The overview of the Director of Admissions position is:

The Director of Admissions will be responsible for the oversight and management of admission referrals/inquiries; perform all duties associated with the admission process and proactively promote facility to grow the base of quality referrals and serve as an information resource to perspective business and the medical community. Develop and implement special events and presentations targeted at community education, establishing, and maintaining status for facility as expert on skilled nursing, specialty programs, and rehabilitation care in the community.

Responsibilities for the Director of Admissions position includes:

· Managing the inquiry process and communication of anticipated admissions, discharges, level of care changes and room changes in order to build and maintain census.

· Close working relationship with the business office manager and director of nursing to effectively assure clinically appropriate and financially sound decisions on prospective admissions.

· Compile and distribute admissions paperwork and input into PCC.

· Communicate daily census activity and updates to departmental team leaders and team members of admissions activities verbally, written and in PCC and any special equipment needs required by anticipated admission.

· Maintain daily census and update bed availability.

· Lead room readiness and assignments between nursing and housekeeping having all rooms "Show Ready".

· Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources, educate the community about new facility offerings, and increase visibility in the medical community making outside outreach as needed.

· Conduct paperwork associated with the admissions process and serve as a point of contact internally for inquiry calls and facility tours to provide information and facilitate admission.

· Assign physicians to new admission.

· Maintain wait list and accurate tracking of referrals.

· Maintain knowledge of State and Federal guidelines with strong working knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care.

· Monitor and evaluate customer service and communicate trends to management and others as appropriate to develop actions plans as needed.
