Welcome to our Health Information Management Department

The Director of Health Information Management (HIM) plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the functionality of our department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing processes to promote quality of service and continuous improvement
  • Leading process redesign and change analysis to drive results
  • Demonstrating independence and problem-solving skills while fostering cooperation and collaboration
  • Working with senior leadership, physicians, and other departments to create a collaborative work environment
  • Ensuring budgetary and regulatory compliance, as well as defining departmental direction
  • Setting a consistent standard of excellence for all departmental work

As the Director, you will report to the Vice President of Finance and be responsible for:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the HIM Department
  • Providing support and guidance to staff
  • Establishing and implementing standards for departmental performance
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards
  • Staying informed about current trends in the field

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Five to seven years of experience in health information management, with leadership experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Strong analytical skills, experience in process reengineering and project management
  • Expertise in HIPAA Privacy regulations, CDI, coding, health information governance, and electronic health records
  • Familiarity with physician practice health records and experience as a Privacy Officer is a plus
