The Clinical Pharmacist plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for patients in a specific area. This includes various age groups such as Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.
Requirements:
- Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy within the first 90 days of employment
Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program
Preferred:
- Minimum of one year of pharmacy practice experience or residency training
- Previous experience in state-of-the-art drug distribution and clinical service methods
Education/Training:
Preferred:
- PGY1 or PGY2 ASHP-accredited residency
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) from an accredited program
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, screen, and verify all drug-related orders
- Ensure timely preparation and dispensing of medications
- Resolve drug therapy issues and clarify problematic orders
- Supervise Pharmacy Interns, Certified Pharmacy Technicians, and pharmacy residents
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs
Activities:
- Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, and reaching
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and ability to handle multiple priorities
Environment:
- Fast-paced with frequent customer interactions and adapting to changes
