Essential Duties of a Prior Authorization Specialist:
Obtain prior authorizations for all oral medications, chemotherapy, surgery and blood work for all providers in our outpatient clinics.
Verify eligibility for oral medications, chemotherapy, surgery and blood work;Find and set up financial assistance (copay assistance) for patients;Fax all infusion orders to the infusion center;Act as the point person if there is an issue with a prior authorization or a code for the hospital;Track prior authorizations for expiration dates;Manage incoming document bins and assist with the completion of necessary forms;Deliver exemplary customer service in order to provide a positive patient experience across the organization;

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma requiredPrior work experience in an healthcare facility, preferably in a role involving medical billing, insurance verification and prior authorizations.

Understanding of medical terminology, insurance procedures, and healthcare billing proceduresStrong written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, ability to utilize computer programs
