Job Title: Research Technician at The Wythe Lab
The Wythe Lab is currently looking for a research technician to join the team and help uncover the molecular mechanisms behind vascular malformations and cardiovascular disease, specifically focusing on brain vasculature. We are seeking a candidate who is a self-starter, eager to learn new techniques, well-organized, a team player, competent in basic molecular biology or biochemistry, and ideally with experience in cell culture, zebrafish, or mice.
The individual in this role will have a variety of responsibilities:
Total Work Effort30% - Working with mouse or zebrafish models, including animal husbandry, embryo dissection, and tissue imaging.5% - Lab maintenance, ordering supplies, and organizing equipment.25% - Molecular biology and biochemistry techniques like gel electrophoresis, DNA manipulation, and PCR.25% - Tissue culture tasks such as cell propagation and transfection.10% - Data analysis and result documentation.Minimum Requirements
Education: Associate's degree
Experience: Minimum 2 years of lab experience or relevant academic background.
Preferred Experience
- Sound knowledge of basic molecular biology.
- Experience in mouse or zebrafish care and PCR-based genotyping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
This position involves standing, squatting, and fine finger manipulation during experiments and animal care.
