Design Engineer

to work with our Sales and Architect Engineer Teams to design leading solutions for our customers throughout Ohio. You will

report to the President. Your location could be in Westlake, Ohio

or

Hybrid.
We design, install, and manage many solutions including but not limited to:

  • Interconnecting networks and data centers with managed and monitored routing and switching
  • Enabling secure mobility with wide scale wireless connectivity
  • Securing teams and data with physical and network security such as firewalls, VPNs, video
surveillance and access controls

  • Enhancing organizational collaboration and workflow with virtual meeting and communication
platforms and VoIP with advanced emergency alerting technologies

supportive What you'll do:
Represent DataServ in a positive manner to colleagues, customer base and vendors
Become familiar with DataServ policies and procedures, updating documentation when needed
Work with Account Executives to develop and design appropriate solutions
Work on the design, implementation and support of Compute and Infrastructure solutions
Develop detailed quotes, drawings, Engagement Agreements and Scope of Work documents
Function as a liaison between Sales team, Proactive Services team, and Responsive Services team
Work closely and coordinate with Operations team
Manage manufacturer, vendor, and distribution relationships for daily operational needs
Monitor sales quotes to ensure they are completed within acceptable timeframes
Develop and manage processes, implement effective workflow, and embrace best practices
Automate workflows and processes to create additional efficiencies when appropriate
Coordinate and participate in internal and customer meetings, driving solutions and providing follow up
Participate in customer sales calls, demonstrations, and project meetings
Develop and deliver sales presentations in conjunction with Sales team
Perform assessments and site surveys to determine appropriate recommendations for customers
Manage internal and external communication processes and activities
Create and review site survey feedback to improve services, tools, and support experience
Assure customers are provided timely, efficient, and effective service
Advise leadership about situations that may require additional client support or escalation
Coordinate work and resources with other teams including, but not limited to, surveys, assessments, etc.
Provide redundancy and backup support for other team members
Lead by example, inspiring other team members and being a supportive team member to others
Innovate and be open to change, actively researching new technologies
All other duties as assigned

What we require:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
Five years of engineer experience preferred
At least one year of technical integration and support experience preferred
Experience in help desk support and/or pre-sales network design preferred
Experience with technology manufacturers (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, HP, Dell, etc.) preferred
Cisco and/or Microsoft certifications preferred
Additional advanced certifications, certificates, and/or technical trainings as assigned
Availability to work nights and weekends as scheduled
Travel to various company and customer sites as necessary
Meet physical demands of the position including the ability to lift and handle up to 45 pounds of materials, bend, stoop and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of materials or equipment on shelving
Pre-employment driver's license and background checks required

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities needed:
Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to proofread
Strong understanding of enterprise datacenter technologies including networking, security, NAS, cloud computing and physical data center practices preferred
Strong experience with IP-based and fiber networking for SAN/NAS technologies preferred
Experience and competent with complex configurations including, but not limited to:

Microsoft Windows Servers
Server Virtualization (VMware)
Storage Solutions
Network Infrastructure
