Physical Requirements


This position requires regularly standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Also involves some job-related travel (less than 10% of time); exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

Primarily 1st shift; Monday – Friday. Shifts may vary based on departmental needs. This position is on-site.

Job Summary


The Medical Records Clerk Chief serves as team lead responsible for the oversight of Health Information Management (HIM) functions within a designated section of the HIM department.

This position is responsible for the completion all tasks for assumed area of HIM with knowledge of IT systems.

The Medical Records Clerk Chief will serve as point person for communication, issue resolution and escalation, coordinate coverage and support team in meeting productivity goals.

This position provides training and support to healthcare staff who work within the patient health record while maintaining compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory standards.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities


The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel; experience and knowledge in using Outlook, 3M, SCM, SRM, APM, AEHR, HQPM & PICIS; have high attention to detail; excellent communication skills (both written & verbal); ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment; ability to be flexible and to learn new things quickly.

Medical Terminology, HIPAA competency and working knowledge of regulatory compliance essential.

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate degree preferred and/or 5 years previous electronic medical records experience in a hospital setting.
