General Overview of the Role:

The Operations & Information Systems (OIS) Department is looking for the Robert J. Manning Endowed Chair in Business Analytics. This is a tenured full-professor position at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. We are seeking applications from accomplished individuals in the field of business analytics or related areas, with a strong emphasis on outstanding research and teaching skills.

The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. from an accredited business school and have a proven track record of nationally recognized research with publications in esteemed business journals. Additionally, they should excel in teaching and service roles within the academic and professional communities. These responsibilities will include maintaining a robust research agenda, mentoring Ph.D. students, collaborating effectively with various stakeholders, and continuing to serve the profession externally.

Please note that the start date for this role is flexible.

The initial appointment for the Endowed Chair is five years, with the possibility of renewing for additional terms, subject to successful performance assessments in research, teaching, and service engagement. The selected candidate will receive additional benefits such as a summer salary, research fund, Ph.D. research assistance, and administrative support. They will also be expected to uphold a research-intensive status and teach a set number of courses annually.

About the Manning School of Business:

The Manning School of Business accommodates a diverse community of over 3,750 undergraduate and graduate students and is accredited by AACSB International. The school offers state-of-the-art learning facilities and is located just outside Boston, providing an exceptional educational experience. The OIS Department, with a faculty team of thirteen members, offers programs at various academic levels and maintains a strong research presence globally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Tenured Full or Associate Professor with a Ph.D. in business analytics or related fields from an AACSB-accredited business school
  • Evidence of ongoing research and a record of top-tier publications in business analytics
  • A record of teaching effectiveness
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and faculty

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in supervising and advising doctoral students
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to internal and external service
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
