Air Quality Planning Section Supervisor

We are looking for a Section Supervisor to join the Planning Services Section of the Air Quality Bureau. This section, part of the Air Quality Bureau in charge of ensuring healthy air quality in Montana, has various responsibilities like managing Montana's state implementation plan, conducting program rule making, analyzing federal rules, representing Montana in national and regional stakeholder groups, leading the Clean Air Act Advisory Committee, and more.

The Section Supervisor of the Planning Services Section plays a crucial role in leading a diverse team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, professionalism, and collaboration. This position offers the chance to mentor and set an example for the staff while being at the forefront of air quality policy in Montana.

Responsibilities of the Planning Services Section Supervisor include implementing agency, division, and bureau directives, overseeing day-to-day operations of the section, communicating priorities effectively, coordinating annual work plans, providing feedback, managing staff, promoting professional growth, and aligning operations with DEQ strategic plans. Collaboration with the Bureau Chief is essential to establish direction, strategy, address issues, and evaluate operational effectiveness.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience, including leadership or supervision, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Preferred experience in business and management principles, human resources management, leadership techniques, and stakeholder communication.
  • Preferred education or experience in the relevant program area.
  • May require a valid Driver's License and clean driving record as per State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
