Position Overview: The Field Service Technician will be responsible for technical and customer support and provide on-site installation supervision, maintenance, and repair assistance on our complete line of BMP High-Speed Doors and Salco Industrial Doors. The position will work out of our office in Arlington Heights, IL, and travel will be 30-50%.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and customer support on our complete line of BMP High-Speed Doors and Salco Industrial Doors.
- Identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues using a variety of tools and techniques.
- Supervise installs, assist in maintenance inquiries, and aid in the repair of products at customers' sites.
- Maintain a high degree of professional customer service for all interactions.
- Proactively communicate with customers to keep them updated on the status of open issues.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
- Provide training to customers on the proper use and maintenance of our products.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with end-users and distributors.
- Generate accurate and timely reports documenting site visits, work performed, and parts used within our CRM software.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product changes and updates.
- Keep accurate records of travel expenses and turn them in on a timely basis.
- Travel as needed to support our areas of customer responsibilities.
- Participate in after-hours / weekend work as needed.
- Attend shows and exhibitions, if required, as technical support.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
- Good listener with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Associate's degree, certification, trade school diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical/Mechanical/Automation/Automotive.
- High school diploma.
- 2-4 years of hands-on electromechanical experience.
- Ability to read schematic diagrams, a voltmeter, and knowledge of PLCs.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to collaborate effectively with people.
- Self-driven with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Competence in MS Office suite.
Other desirable skills:
- Knowledge of industrial controls.
