MISSION STATEMENT:

The District reflects the shared values of a diverse community of stakeholders and focuses on student success socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Students of the Upper Moreland Township School District will be provided with the foundation and skills necessary to excel in the exciting, complex, and interdependent world in which they live.

SUMMARY:
The K-12 Content Area Leader provides both district-wide and building-specific leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The K-12 Content Area Leader serves as a liaison between the Office of the Assistant Superintendent, the Supervisors of Curriculum and Instruction, and the schools to provide support and leadership in the development and implementation of the District's curriculum review process. This position is non-supervisory and is part of the Upper Moreland Education Association. The K-12 Content Area Leader will work in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent, the Supervisors of Curriculum and Instruction, as well as the Building Principals and Assistant Principals. Work will be defined by the Supervisors of Curriculum and Instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • One meeting per month with the Supervisors of Curriculum and Instruction and Assistant Superintendent. Additionally, participation in the planning and carrying out of summer and school year professional learning days.
  • Assists with the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the approved district curriculum in each school.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of the UMTSD Induction Program.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of UMTSD Professional Learning Days.
  • During the school year, helps to facilitate curriculum committees/work sessions that are necessary to fully implement the district instructional management cycle for continuous improvement.
  • Organizes ordering and delivery of classroom resources as part of the Framework for Continuous Improvement.
  • Provides support for all curricular initiatives, including but not limited to organizing meeting rooms, calendar organization, team meetings, cabinet meetings, administrative workshop meetings, and organization of professional learning days.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisors of Curriculum and/or Building Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching.
  • Pennsylvania Level II certification and appropriate teaching experience.
  • Five years of teaching experience with at least two years of progressively responsible building or district leadership assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the district team.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school, District, and state.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
