YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE
We are looking for a Product Specialist in 401 N Michigan Ave, Suite 1400, Chicago, IL 60611 USA. Your mission will be to:
- Coordinate and monitor the costing and pricing process for new and Microbiology or Chemistry test offerings, as well as identify any changes to cost for existing testing improvements. This task includes: being the first approval in the internal SSP ticketing system for requests and working with the laboratories and other functional groups to gather labor and material costs if necessary. Be on-site if necessary to capture relevant labor times for costing.
- Survey market/competitors and sales to help develop pricing with Product Managers, and maintain prices in JDE.
Own the movement of tickets in SSP Other from Product Management functions to technical review to SSP IT ticket submissions. Once the IT ticket is resolved, coordinate information from SSP IT to SSP Other for JDE entry. - Serve as the point of contact for both existing and new vendors and assist the Product Manager in determining the scope of brokered tests for each location.
Regularly obtain and update vendor pricing in JDE and the Sales Template on an annual basis or as needed. - Generate internal capability update sheets for Chemistry and Microbiology, then distribute them via email to both North American and global team members. Help update functional groups on new capabilities or improvements.
Collaborate on organizing the monthly marketing capability email feature and assist the Project Manager in collecting the monthly feature content for Marketing. - Assist in marketing efforts for internal and external promotion, blog posts, and follow-up as necessary
Monitor technical JotForm requests for Chemistry and Microbiology for potential new service offerings, project work, or routine analysis. - Maintain Laboratory Help Sheets for the Commercial Teams to ensure ease of information use on each laboratory operation.
- Perform other duties relating to Commercial Operations and Product Management, such as: remaining current on testing procedures provided, governmental, regulation, or accreditation updates, internal sales or pricing updates, and maintaining the client perspective.
This position requires an advanced knowledge of food testing and marketing, possibly obtained from a degree or equivalent experience in the industry, to develop service and pricing for test offerings that are profitable for the company.
Required skills:
- Product and/or Project Management, process/continuous improvement knowledge, and experience are important to effectively develop and implement new service offerings and improvements.
- Prior related technical experience in Microbiology or Chemistry would be beneficial, as well as knowledge of testing services, laboratory quality systems, Standard Operating Procedures, accreditation requirements, pertinent regulations, and other industry-specific drivers.
- A strong understanding of financial costing processes, such as direct and total costs relating to materials and labor.
- B-to-B experience, or strong interpersonal skills are required to build and maintain relationships within the company, as well as external vendors.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Work Environment: The position primarily works in an office environment. Physical dexterity is necessary to effectively work a keyboard. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a sitting position. Periodically, the position may lift up to 50 lbs.
