Functions under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Administers medications to include oral and sublingual agents, topical agents, subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular medications, safely and per policy.

Must be available to provide nursing services in all patient care area of expertise and knowledge, at all elected locations.

Possess the specialized knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide care for people with physical disability and chronic illness.

Performs IV therapy to include the peripheral and central venous route.
Discontinues IV therapy and removes IV catheters that do not exceed 1 1⁄2 inches in length.
Observes, reports, documents signs of injury, infiltration and/or inflammation at the injection site.

Performs charge nurse or term leader duties as necessary making rounds to determine level of standards or patient/resident care, environmental safety and delegate tasks of CNAI and CNAII.

Documents observations, treatment, and patient response to treatment/therapy/nursing care.
Reports patient/resident care conditions and concerns accurately in the shift report to supervisor, family and/or physician.

Must be able to lift and support the weight of 51 pounds in handling patients, residents, medical equipment, and supplies.

Understands and speaks fluent English. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in the patient and/or unit conditions.

Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing required. BLS required per policy guidelines. 3 years nursing experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility required.

Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, supervisory skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing clinical care, nursing practice, and leadership.
