Library Administrative Assistant

Nature of Work:

  • Are you skilled in organization, customer service, and interested in the library system? The Bellingham Public Library is looking for a Library Administrative Assistant.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • This position starts at Step 1 ($31.99/hour) with step increases annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Supports the Library Director by managing calendars, preparing reports, policies, and more.
  • Serves as assistant to the Library Board of Trustees, prepares meeting agendas, board packets, and attends meetings.
  • Manages office operations, payroll, budgeting, and personnel tasks.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily office-based work, involves sitting or standing at a computer workstation.
  • Minimal physical requirements except occasional transportation of objects weighing 10-15 pounds.

Experience and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in accounting support and office management.
  • Proficient in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • One year of relevant post-secondary training preferred.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Employment contingent upon passing necessary background checks.

Selection Process:

  • First-round interviews scheduled for July 12, 2024.
  • Second Round In-Person Interviews on July 26, 2024.
