Position Summary
The role of Food Service Manager involves overseeing all aspects of food provision at the camp, including procurement, preparation, nutrition, sanitation, security, personnel management, customer service, and record-keeping. This position also extends to supervising the operations of the camp store.

Essential Functions
- Uphold the commitment to Christian camping within the food services area.
- Establish a collaborative relationship with maintenance staff to ensure optimal kitchen appliance functionality.
- Align with the Program Staff to integrate food service seamlessly into the camp's mission and programs.
- Foster the professional and spiritual development of kitchen employees.
- Manage daily food and dining operations, coordinating kitchen and dining room activities.
- Supervise menu planning, meal preparation, and service for various user groups.
- Oversee food inventory, order supplies, and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in all food-service areas.
- Implement practices for waste reduction, item reuse, and recycling.
- Handle administrative and human-resource tasks related to kitchen staff.
- Monitor employee performance, provide training, and participate in hiring processes.
- Plan and supervise the work of food service staff, both seasonal and year-round.
- Collaborate with staff on menu planning, food ordering, storage, and food preparation.
- Uphold cleanliness and organization in dish rooms, kitchens, and dining areas.
- Supervise weekend food service operations, focusing on service quality and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with American Camping Association food standards.
- Collaborate with camp secretaries regarding paperwork and eligibility for food programs.

Other Duties
In year-round settings, contribute to strategic discussions on guest services, budgeting, and planning. For summer operations, participate in hiring, orientation, and overseeing food service at the camp.

Working Conditions
- Physical requirements include walking, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, and using kitchen equipment.
- Ability to move objects and food items weighing up to 30 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
- Strong ability to work independently, with leadership experience and customer service skills.
- Experience in institutional or large-scale food service settings.
- Knowledge of food service operations, ordering, budgeting, and health department regulations.
- Certification for health department standards and kitchen operation.
- Supervisory experience, familiarity with health and safety laws, and special dietary food preparation.
- Skills in oral and written communication, hazard identification, and response.
- Physical stamina for prolonged standing and mobility.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check when working with children.
