We are seeking a Field Service Lead to join our Field Services team.

You will be responsible for providing hands-on field repairs, welding, and technical support for Metso customers and/or third-party contractors in existing and/or newly acquired retrofit/rebuild/replacement equipment.

Project the image of Metso as the service oriented company to depend on for competent field service support on mining equipment for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and operation.

The Field Service Lead position requires strong experience as a Field Service Technician to lead a team with a strong background in mechanical and maintenance work as well as in depth knowledge of mining equipment.

In this position, you will report to the Field Service Manager in Salt Lake City, UT.


This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT but, will require up to 70% of travel to customer sites and other internal Metso sites for training.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prior to arrival at field assignment location, inventory and load tooling/equipment; complete site access safety training
  • Under direct supervision, provide technical and hands-on service during demolition and installation, checkout, start-up, and commissioning to ensure safety and proper equipment and system erection is in accordance with contract designs and drawing requirements.
  • Assist with various millwright tasks such as, but not limited to, installation and alignment of new ring & pinion gears, mill components or complete mill change-outs.
  • Repair various types of process equipment such as crushers, conveyers, pumps, screens, mills, kilns, bulk material handling equipment, etc.
  • Read Micrometers, Calipers, Machinist Levels, Pi Tapes as well as other precision measuring equipment.
  • Troubleshoot corrective action and repairs on mine process equipment.
  • Perform work using safe and proper methods and procedures to maintain and repair Metso equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Travel

Up to 70% may be required for this position.

Ability to stay in remote locations for extended periods of time and have the stamina to work long hours during emergency breakdowns and peak periods.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or GED.
  • 2 years of millwright or mechanic experience in mining or heavy construction industries.
  • Field welding experience is a plus, GMAW and SMAW.
  • Welding certifications are a plus, FCAW.
  • Shaft Alignment experience a plus
  • Previous MSHA training a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical require
  • Knowledge of process equipment such as crushers, conveyers, pumps, screens, mills, kilns, bulk material handling equipment, etc.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a talent for working with other people effectively, fellow employees, customers, contractors.
  • Must be well organized and able to maintain accurate records and communicate reliable information.
  • Mechanical knowledge and abilities a must.
  • Ability to read and interpret imperial and metric tape measurers. Ability to use and interpret dial indicators, calipers, micrometers is a plus.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.
  • Ability to perform basic welding skills using electrode and wire feed process is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic torch cutting using oxygen and acetylene, air arc is a plus.
  • May operate mobile equipment. Forklift, manlift, scissor lift, etc.
  • Ability to identify proper P.P.E. for job at hand.
  • Must understand basic rigging.
  • Overhead crane experience a plus
