Job Description:

Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team in the Independence, Oregon area. This full-time, on-site position is for the 2024-2025 school year, serving K-12 students. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator committed to supporting the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments. Proficiency in ASL is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of DHH students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure student success.
  • Utilize various communication methods, including sign language, to effectively teach and support students.
  • Assess students' progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth.
  • Provide direct instruction and support in academic, social, and behavioral areas.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other school-related activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Valid Oregon state certification in Deaf Education or as a DHH Teacher.
  • Proficiency in sign language and other communication methods used with DHH students preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience working with students with hearing impairments is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment.
