Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.


This position will work closely with the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Campaign Strategy and the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support a campaign. Johns Hopkins is entering its next comprehensive fundraising campaign in 2025, and the Campaign Analyst will play a critical role in project management related to campaign planning and activation. Campaign Strategy and Engagement includes: Development Communications, Donor Engagement & Stewardship, University Events, Volunteer Engagement and the Office of Gift Planning. The University's last campaign, Rising to the Challenge, closed in 2018 and raised over $6B to support our students, faculty, staff and patients.


Reporting to the AVP for Campaign Strategy and Engagement, the Campaign Analyst will be skilled in managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced higher education setting. This position will be responsible for developing and managing processes related to the workflow of the campaign, including project management, analyzing and presenting information and data in a visually appealing way, preparing presentations and sharing reports. This position will also research current national trends in campaigns and higher education at peer institutions, track progress against campaign goals, and work closely with the AVP's Senior Coordinator to coordinate schedules and meetings, and prepare materials for the AVP. Finally, this position will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support data needs and analysis, campaign reporting and special projects as needed.


Key responsibilities:
  • Devise and maintain project management systems to track campaign planning activity, incorporating efforts of DAR centrally as well as those of the schools and Johns Hopkins Medicine. Monitor upcoming deadlines and facilitate communication with responsible parties. Prepare status reports on campaign planning in written and chart form for internal and external audiences, including the Board of Trustees (BOT) and leadership volunteers.
  • Analyze donor data from a Salesforce-based customer relationship management system (CRM), JHAS (Johns Hopkins Advancement System), and oversee the preparation of charts and graphs in various formats to show campaign progress.
  • Work closely with the Office of Advancement Services (OAS), including the Prospect Research and the Relationship Management teams, on the tracking, and reporting of campaign gifts, from both dollar total and donor recognition perspectives. Run and distribute campaign progress reports and complete further analysis as needed. Serve as liaison with OAS in the development and refinement of campaign reports. Create, maintain, audit, and circulate lists of top campaign gifts.
  • Internal communication and staff education - help to develop materials and content for DAR staff education sessions. Track topics covered with various constituencies and those needed in future.
  • Maintain campaign records in hard copy and digital form.
  • Maintain campaign gift tables and progress against goals. Work with Prospect Research team regarding capacity of prospect pool as it relates to gift tables and goal setting. Work with the Office of Principal Gifts on the Gifts to Close report, managing the top prospects for the campaign and their cultivation cycle.
  • Research information from CASE, peer institutions, and other external sources about campaigns for benchmarking purposes.
  • Serve as a resource to those staffing campaign donor/volunteer committees and events. Responsibilities may require staffing planning meetings, overseeing preparation of presentations, ensuring research is completed, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years' experience required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference given to candidates with work experience an academic setting.
  • Computer literacy required. Must have experience with Windows and databases. Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to work competently and efficiently in a multi-task environment. Must have proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and sometimes competing interests.
  • Familiarity with the workings of JHU/DAR a plus. Familiarity with Salesforce and project management software programs a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be creative and proactive, able to streamline work volume in order to maintain bottom line efforts in midst of multi-tasking and daily re-prioritizing. Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Must be able to evaluate problems accurately and display good, sound, and confidential judgment.
  • Must have ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle even difficult situations well. Must be able to listen carefully as well as to influence and persuade others.
  • Able to work effectively with internal and external constituencies in a university environment.
