Posting Summary:

This position is located in Underhill, VT and is approximately 28 hours per week.

The PMRC Facilities Support Technician position will work as a critical part of the Center’s staff to maintain and operate the sugaring operation and to help support the triple mission (research, education and outreach) of the center. Work under the functional supervision of the PMRC Facility Coordinator on tasks ranging from installing and maintaining sap lines, operating state of the art equipment for syrup production in the sugarhouses, and operating plow trucks, tractors and ATVs in inclement weather conditions. Requires experience with sugaring operations and in the safe operation of utility vehicles, chainsaws and light construction (framing, siding, roofing).

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):

1-3 years of experience with:
-Operating equipment, including tractors, plow trucks and other off-road vehicles. Forestry experience, including having chainsaw instructional and safety training to specifically deal with windstorm damaged/dropped trees.-Operating sugarhouse equipment and sap-line tubing systems.-Handling and performing routine repairs and maintenance of motors and engines, including diesel, gasoline and electric. b
-Be familiar with light construction, including framing, siding and roofing and concrete footings and flooring

Desirable Qualifications:

Knowledge of plumbing and low voltage electrical systems to enable position to work closely with UVM’s Physical Plant staff.

Anticipated Pay Range:

23.00-25.00/hr

Other Information:

Office location is located in Underhill, VT.

This position is expected to work increased hours during the maple sugaring seasons. Weekend and non-standard may be required during sugaring season. This position is subject to a Post offer pre-employment physical screening .

Special Conditions:

Position located in different city, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Weekend work required, Non-standard work hours required, A probationary period may be required, This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required
