Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team in the Swanzey, NH area This full-time, in-person position for the 2024-2025 school year offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on the lives of high school students with diverse learning needs by providing them with individualized support.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, counselors, and families to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of students with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and other exceptionalities, focusing on college and career readiness.
  • Utilize a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated learning approaches to address diverse learning styles and academic needs of high school students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects (depending on area of expertise) aligned with state standards, with a focus on closing learning gaps and promoting academic success for college or career readiness.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies into the classroom environment to foster emotional well-being, self-advocacy skills, independent living skills, and positive peer relationships among students.
  • Deliver specialized instruction and support services aligned with each student's IEP goals in small group settings or co-teaching situations, focusing on targeted interventions to address specific learning challenges and prepare students for postsecondary education or vocational training.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and report on the effectiveness of instructional strategies to inform ongoing learning plans for students with special needs.
  • Partner with students to develop transition plans for college, vocational training, or independent living after high school graduation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education for high school students.

High School Support:

This position allows you to play a crucial role in supporting high school students with special needs as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where each student can develop the skills and knowledge needed for success beyond high school.

Qualifications:

  • New Hampshire State Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with students with special needs in a high school setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and learning theories as they apply to students with diverse learning needs in high school.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal standards, with a focus on transition planning for postsecondary education or vocational training.
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills to create a positive and engaging learning environment for high school students with special needs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, general education teachers, counselors, paraprofessionals, and other school staff.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting on student progress.
  • A passion for helping high school students with special needs overcome challenges, prepare for their futures, and reach their full potential in a supportive school environment.
