Thesurgery unit has 29 beds. Our dynamic patient population includessurgical, trauma and a variety of medical patients. Our surgeriestypically involve the neck to the gut. This population includes GIsurgeries such as colon resections, small bowel resections,cholecystectomies and appendectomies. We also care for vascularsurgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies and maxillofacialprocedures, etc. Patients may have an ostomy, NGT and/or otherfeeding tube and/or drains. Trauma patients may have multipleinjuries, chest tubes, a tracheostomy and/or other drains, but havestabilized enough for a non-ICU/step down med-surg floor admission.We are a level 2 trauma center.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Coordinates the delivery of quality nursingcare for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well asoperational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care asneeded when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmentalissues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves asresource for guidance and assistance to thestaff.

Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursingprogram.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
One year of nursing experience in ahospital setting required.

MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License. BLS certification required.

ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years of nursingexperience in a hospital setting preferred. Bachelor's degreepreferred. Advanced certification in field of specialty, ifapplicable. Demonstrated clinical competency.
