Camp Pendleton North, United States Booz Allen Hamilton Full time
Instructional Design and Curriculum Development Specialist

The Opportunity:

Do you want to develop training that will transform national defense agencies? As an Instructional Design and Curriculum Development Specialist, you know that even the best tools and processes can’t have impact without the right training. Constructing interactive courseware that teaches critical information and tradecraft requires a real passion for understanding the needs of your client. We have an opportunity for an Instructional Design and Curriculum Development Specialist like you who is committed to solving some of the toughest challenges in national defense agencies by crafting effective training.

On our team, you’ll work with stakeholders and SMEs to capture your client’s training needs and advise them on the right learning solution to help them accomplish their mission. Putting the learner at the center of the training experience, you’ll design synchronous and asynchronous material or performance support tools. You’ll build training material with multimedia specialists, graphics artists, and instructors while following the ADDIE model. You’ll use your technical skills, creativity, and experience to come up with new ideas to develop an engaging, interactive learning experience. You’ll recommend cutting-edge multimedia technologies and strategies, including blended learning, screen casting, or gamification to build a successful learning environment. You know communication is key, so you’ll meet with stakeholders and SMEs throughout the process to discuss learning material and incorporate feedback. To ensure your solution is hitting the mark, you’ll collect and analyze results using evaluation methodologies such as the Kirkpatrick Model, then fine tune your training for maximum impact. You’ll be able to build your leadership skills as you share your expertise through leadership and mentoring. As a leader, you’ll identify new opportunities to build solutions to your customer’s learning needs. This is a chance to use your deep understanding of training methodologies to build a creative learning experience that will engage students.

Join us as we improve national defense agencies through learner-centered instructional design and development.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in the DoD conducting analyses of occupational areas or jobs to determine the requirements for revision of existing instructional systems or development of new training programs, preparing instructor materials, and training personnel

  • Experience developing curriculum using adult learning methodologies and inclusion of technological solutions for the DoD

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle

  • Knowledge of training or instructional design best practices, including the ADDIE or Kirkpatrick model

  • Ability to facilitate working groups training sessions

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Training and Development, Instructional Design or Technology, or Organizational Development

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience developing training programs ranging from live training courses and workshops to computer-based courses and workshops such as train-the trainer courses and workshops, or web-based training

  • Experience developing courses in LMS such as Moodle or Canvas

  • Knowledge of the SAT process and the MCTIMS curriculum development program to interpret Marine Corps policy, perform courseware review functions, and recommend corrective action when deficiencies are identified

  • Knowledge of authoring tools such as Articulate, Canvas, and related LMS

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and develop components of instructional design, establish criteria for training aids, and measure effectiveness of the total instructional program to provide documentation

  • Secret clearance

  • Master’s degree

  • Kirkpatrick, Instructional Systems Design, or similar Certification

Clearance:
