UAS Training Specialist II

Amentum is currently in search of a UAS Training Specialist to facilitate training and certify individuals as Small Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operators within a Department of Defense (DoD) context. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong motivation and attention to detail, alongside exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. This is a full-time role requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering instruction or providing assistance in instruction utilizing established lesson plans and prepared materials.
  • Administering assessments or informal evaluations as necessary.
  • Training and certifying operators, UAS unit instructors, evaluators, and program managers in alignment with the Group 1 UAS Training and Readiness Manual.
  • Supporting staff with additional responsibilities to uphold a high-quality training program and deliver training support services to a diverse audience engaged in the operation or management of UAV/UAS assets.
  • Willingness to travel may be required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a High School Diploma.
  • Familiarity and experience in instructional roles, with the expectation to fulfill required Instructor duties following approximately 90 days of training and completion of the Instructor Course.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class III FAA flight physical.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
  • Capability to obtain and sustain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance, with U.S. Citizenship being a prerequisite.
  • Meeting the criteria to serve as a Range Safety Officer (RSO) for the designated location.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of any Group 1 or 2 UAS initial qualification training courses (e.g., Raven, DDL, PUMA AE, WASP III or WASP IV, Skydio, VXE30, TRV-150).
  • Experience in leading field instruction operations.
  • Background in curriculum development.
  • Military experience is advantageous.
  • Active Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Current Class III FAA flight physical is a plus.

Compensation:

This position is governed by a union collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with an hourly wage set at $33.00.
