RESPONSIBLEFOR:
Functions as a first assistant duringoperative and other invasive procedures in accordance withcredentials, privileges, experience, education and competencyverification. Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case. At timefacilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparingand providing the required sterile instruments, supplies andequipment in the role of scrub tech. Maintains the sterile fieldand anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgicalteam.
Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate from a surgicaltechnologist program. Requires completion of didactic and clinicalcomponents of the First Assistant program or competency verified bya sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientationperiod.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
Three years perioperative servicesexperience.
MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:
Certified surgical technologist (CST).
Basic Life Support (BLS)certification.
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
Certified surgical assistant(CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgicalassistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certificationpreferred
