Department Summary:
The Risk Management & Analysis Department within MITRE’s Global Security & Risk Management Division organizes, coordinates, and focuses intelligence and investigative activities to identify and mitigate threats to the company’s sensitive or critical resources posed by foreign adversaries and competitors seeking to disadvantage MITRE’s missions, relationships, contracts, and business pursuits within the U.S. government and global marketplaces. The Cyber Operations Lead will integrate core investigative tools and processes to enable insider threat fusion hub operations, providing early detection of threats and effective monitoring of platforms and scenarios. The Cyber Operations Lead will enhance technical capability development and scenario/playbook engineering and may also provide analytic support to active investigations and risk assessments, including multi-disciplinary approaches to analyzing MITRE operations and programs for criticality; analyzing threats; discovering vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and developing countermeasures for effectively managing those risks as an integrated element of MITRE’s enterprise security risk management strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Applying investigative experience, knowledge of the security domain, and cybersecurity engineering skills to enable multifaceted and highly sensitive enterprise-wide Counterintelligence and Insider Threat investigations by maturing investigative concepts and processes within the program’s suite of technical tools.
- Implementing and continuously improving threat detection capabilities and analytical response methodologies.
- Analyzing information gleaned through enterprise threat detection initiatives, performing correlation across multiple sources; identifying trends, anomalies and/or actionable threats; and recommending risk-based and cost-effective risk mitigations.
- Architecting technical support to a standard range of insider threat fusion hub operations, providing early detection of threats, and effectively monitoring platforms and scenarios, including enhancing technical capability development and scenario engineering.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Active Top-Secret Clearance.
Required Qualifications:
- Cybersecurity engineering / cyber operations experience includes analysis tuning/configuration and event mitigation/remediation workflow; collecting and analyzing data from security information and event management (SEIM), and endpoint security tools; using such data sources to enrich and correlate User Behavior Analytic (UBA) patterns and identify threat activity.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging technical tools, data, and systems to implement and optimize investigative processes.
- System Administration for endpoint monitoring software
- Experience developing agent policy sets, maintenance of systems, and agent health across the enterprise
- Cyber Security
- Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC)/CSOC Engineer
- Ability to build Splunk queries
- Knowledgeable of IT security policies and procedures
- Information Technology Network Infrastructure
- Understanding of log and event information to detect anomalous behaviors
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intelligence Analysis domain includes data and intelligence research and analysis; developing and writing analytical reports and assessments; and preparing and delivering briefings.
- Counterintelligence operations domain includes investigative or analytical tradecraft and knowledge of Foreign Intelligence Entities tactics, techniques, and procedures to identify and counterintelligence collection or operations.
- Insider Threat Program domain includes understanding and applying insider threat program requirements as stipulated in EO 13587, the policies and guidance promulgated by the National Insider Threat Task Force (NITTF), and DoD 5220.22-M Change 2 of the National Industrial Security Program Manual (NISPOM) to gather, integrate, centrally analyze, and respond to applicable risk indicators associated with trusted insiders.
- Investigations’ domain includes applying investigative techniques in formal inquiries, fact-finding and/or due diligence activities to pursue evidence to refute or substantiate allegations or suspicions of criminal, compliance, and/or administrative violations.
