The department has a mission to provide a high quality education to our student population through excellence and innovation in teaching and research in order to serve the scientific and engineering needs of the state of Texas and the nation. This will be achieved by a balance of formal course work, practical laboratory training, and research projects that encompass both the basic science and the applied aspects of materials science and engineering. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering programs.

Position Overview
The position of a postdoctoral research associate is available immediately in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas.
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform experimental and computational research in additive manufacturing, characterization and room and elevated temperature mechanical testing (compression, tension, creep and fatigue) of aluminum-cerium base alloys for high temperature structural applications.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence.

Job Duties:
- Conduct experiments, gather data, document research notes, code and analyze data, interpret data.
- Prepare manuscripts for publications in a timely manner and talks and posters for presentation at group meetings and conferences.
- Train graduate and undergraduate students and other junior colleagues in the research group and department as needed.
- Help in preparing reviews and research proposal writing.
- Prepare/Assist with reports of research progress to funding agencies.
- Keep up with historical and latest research data and publications.
- Stay up to date with all trainings, and federal, state, university and department requirements.
