Summary

The Cardiovascular Research Scientist will carry out the ultrasound protocol procedures outlined in the manual of operations of the studies to obtain ultrasound images and specified measurements of artery and heart structure. He/she will use the equipment, processes and settings which have been vetted by the investigators to obtain clear ultrasound images of the vessels. He/she will measure already specified parameters using a specialized computer measurement program provided by the investigators following the study protocol and manual of operations. He/she will maintain image data and data files of measurements from the study, review the database and report information provided by study investigators in table and/or narrative format as requested by the study investigators. He/She will actively engage in grant applications and scientific publications. Research Scientists are individuals holding a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree who play a major role in enabling research programs through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and staff. The rank of the research scientist is a staff appointment. A research scientist may apply his/her effort entirely to research, or a combination of research, training, and lab managerial activities. The classification of Research Scientist I is the entry level position in the job hierarchy.

Required Qualifications

•Terminal degree in medicine or health sciences field
•Practical experience in echocardiography or ultrasonography

•Doctor degree in related health field
•Peer reviewed publications preferred
