Formulation Technician I

SUMMARY:
All operations are conducted with an emphasis on safety and within the guidelines and requirements of ISO and 5-S / Lean production environments. The primary goal of this position is to produce high-quality products while meeting the established production schedule safely and efficiently for catalog and bulk/custom orders to achieve production goals relative to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
o On Time completion of weekly production work orders
o Process documentation is maintained in the form of batch record sheets, reports and lab
notebooks and the technician must contribute to and foster the development of a healthy
cooperative environment
o Management of raw materials and inventory in a Kanban system
o Work within our MRP system to issue materials to work orders, perform from-stock and
return-to-stock transactions
o Using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a respirator (when required)
o Documenting the critical aspects of each production run
o Use of pipettes and proper pipetting techniques (single channel and multi-channel pipettes)
o Use of scales/balances to measure accurate amounts of raw materials
o Completing metrology work orders on time when assigned
o Maintain work areas to 5S standards
o Other duties include cleaning, involvement in process development, assistance in other work cells when needed

EXPERIENCE:
o Ability to work safely with various chemicals, and reagents
o Ability to read and accurately follow Batch Record Sheets (BRSs) and Standard Operation Procedures
o Basic mathematical skills, including a solid understanding of the metric system, unit conversions and basic calculations
o Accurate reporting of data and labor time to work orders and in laboratory notebooks
o Punctual and dependable, consistently arriving to work on time and ready to work
o Flexible work schedule when required
o Good interpersonal skills for working effectively in a team environment
o Associates in this position will as part of their job activities generate or manage hazardous waste as defined by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency
o Individuals in this position are required to receive initial hazardous waste training within the first 30 working days of assignment
o The initial waste training shall include but not be limited to the following general categories: identifying hazardous and solid waste, hazardous waste management, recycling, treatment and disposal, emergency preparedness and record keeping and pollution prevention and waste reduction
o Following initial training the Associate in this position will receive annual refresher training in the same topic field as listed above
o Strong organizational skills
o A desire to identify and implement continuous improvements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Ability to routinely lift 40-50 lbs.

EDUCATION:
Accredited high school diploma or GED.

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time; Monday to Friday. 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
