Responsibilities and Duties
  • Oversees daily transportation field operations for on and off-campus shuttle operations, charters, safe rides, and Para-transit services to ensure routes run in an efficient manner and meet the needs of the campus community.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves service issues during the shift including re-routing delayed buses, ensuring appropriate notifications are posted, and responding to maintenance issues and accidents.
  • Supervises staff to ensure expectations are met and issues are addressed.
  • Provides training and guidance, and coordinates schedule; assists managers with creating and modifying procedures, forms, etc., and assumes responsibilities of operations manager in their absence.
  • Performs additional duties including assisting with parking at special events and serving as field supervisor.


Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in a supervisory capacity in the transportation field.
  • Candidate must be able to supervise shuttle programs including route management and compliance with Federal CDL requirements.
  • The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment; possess excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills; and be able to work in the field in all weather conditions for long periods.
  • The candidate is required to have a current CDL Class B license with passenger (P) endorsement and no air brake restrictions. The candidate selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examination to determine ability to perform the job.

The Transportation Supervisor is required to work off hours outside of the normal schedule in support of events and emergency situations.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience, and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
