The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work:  The Maximo IT Supervisor plays an integral role within the Division of Information Technology Enterprise Business Solutions Section for the advancement of MDTA usage of IBM Maximo Systems using technical knowledge and management skills. This position provides supervision to the MDTA Maximo technical resources, Maximo Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT) report writing administration, and MDTA Maximo application system administrative support.  Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises IT Technical Specialists and contractors, for the technical implementation and support of the Maximo system and interfaces to support systems such as Microsoft Dynamics SL, OpenText Content Server, and the Geographic Information System (GIS);
  • Provides technical and strategic guidance regarding the maintenance of the Maximo system;
  • Ensures appropriate change management and release management practices are implemented throughout the complete system lifecycle including development, test, training, and production environments;
  • Plans, designs, and develops improvements and new or advanced systems or applications across an entire area of specialization in application, communication, database, or operating systems software technology;
  • Develops strategies for high availability, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery including implementing database clustering and mirroring as well as addressing different failover options such as failover scenarios;
  • Responds to questions and problems that are received through the MDTA Service Desk; and
  • Creates, manages, and supports BIRT reporting and other reporting tools. 

 
 
Employees in this position will report directly to the IT Solutions and Support Manager.  The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, MD. Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database, or operating systems software technology.

Experience:  Four years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining application, communication, database, or operating systems software.  **Two years of this experience must include supporting and maintaining IBM Maximo or Maximo Application Suite (MAS) application solutions.

2.  An additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, data base or operating systems software may be substituted for the required education.

3.  Experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by writing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school on a year-for-year basis.
