P&O Cruises - Finance Manager

The Finance Manager is responsible for the accuracy of guest accounts and the processing of credit card payments. Undertaking the accurate and secure ordering and handling of the ship's cash requirements following strict protocol and processes.

Primary Responsibility of the role:

  • Manage guest folios ensuring all accounts are accurately cleared and reconciled at the end of each cruise. Ensure all guest accounts have registered forms of payment and daily authorisations are run, minimising the risk of loss of revenue and bad debt. Ensure that all relevant staff understand guest folios and can accurately communicate billing activity to guests.
  • Liaise with land-based finance teams to control all currencies onboard, ensuring sufficient supplies of relevant currencies are onboard at all times. Ensure the required cash is available by following the approved ordering and landing processes. Responsible for the control of the point-of-sale system. This will include all on board requirements including updating of pricing, promotions and individual country tax requirements as and when applicable.
  • Oversee the cash flow of the reception desk, issue, monitor and audit cash floats, including the casino safe, where applicable and ensure all cash areas are reconciled in accordance with company and legal requirements. Monitor, highlight and investigate any discrepancies. In conjunction with the Hotel Operations and Retail Manager, preserve dual control of the main safe onboard.
  • Process guest billing correctly, as and when required and undertake end of cruise reporting. Ensure clear and concise communication with the land-based finance team. Support the crew office with payroll operations as required.
  • Act as the company appointed treasurer for the seafarer's welfare committee, including reconciling accounts and assisting with machine drops as per the seafarer's welfare committee policy and procedures.

Requirements to apply for this role:

  • Relevant industry qualification in accounting

  • Previous experience of financial reporting and passenger billing

  • Experience of working in finance within the hospitality industry is desirable

  • Competent in the use of MS Office software, particularly Excel

  • Strong command of written and spoken English
