Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $59,800.  Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:

The Academic Grant Specialist monitors grant objectives, outcomes, and actions to achieve agency goals. You will assist with the preparation of grant applications in the State’s eCivis software and monitor the expenditures of assigned grant programs. You will assist applicants in determining area or program needs, provide suggestions concerning application procedures, and review grant applications for approval or denial. You will also monitor grant applications, agreements, and accounting documents to ensure accurate budget information, adherence to grant conditions, and proper utilization and accounting of federal and state resources. 

After grant applications are finalized, you will enter grants into the contract management.  You will manage grant amendments according to defined internal schedules, review invoices, and recommend reallocations if necessary.

You will also lead workshops and training conferences for applicants.
 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

-Monitor education program/initiative objectives, outcomes, and actions to achieve agency goals. 
-Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, or laws to constituents within educational institutions. 
-Implement strategic action plans to address program gaps and opportunities. 
-Prepare and disseminate reports on program effectiveness. 
-Ensure program requirements adhere to federal and state policies and grant compliance. 
-Assist in the training and development of education system employees or agency consultants on program requirements and usage.
-Serve as a liaison between the agency and other state and federal agencies.

What You'll Need for Success:

-A bachelor’s degree in education with at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR 6+ years of experience in a related field of expertise.
-Specialized knowledge of education programs and services including pertinent rules and regulations.
-Knowledge of financial grants management and funding.
-Knowledge of grant implementation, monitoring, and fiscal control practices.
-Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing grant administration.
-Exemplary interpersonal, writing, and effective communication skills.
-Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
-Ability to administer, monitor, and review grant contracts.
-Ability to research, interpret, and apply state and federal laws and regulations governing grants administration.
-Ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate grant program compliance.
-Ability to develop, plan, administer, manage, and organize complex programs and activities.
-Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written technical information and materials.
-Strong technology, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
