Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Automation Engineering Lead will specify systems, processes, and solutions that can solve current manufacturing issues and provide standardization across manufacturing locations. The primary focus of this role will be on HWS’s North America manufacturing facilities, including Cleveland, OH, Barberton, OH & Monterrey, Mexico, with opportunity to support additional global manufacturing locations as needed. The goal is to identify opportunities through automation, developing and proving concepts first in Cleveland, OH that can be deployed to global manufacturing locations.

Focus areas include:
Project Planning and Management: Initiate and oversee automation projects from concept through deployment.Develop detailed project plans including engineering deliverables, timelines, resources, BOM lists, budgets.Generate and present reports on project progress, performance, and outcomesTechnical Oversight: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.Provide technical guidance and expertise to the automation team.Review and approve technical designs, code, and configurations.Tool and Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate automation tools and technologies.Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.System Design and Architecture: Design and architect automation solutions to meet business needs.Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and maintainableFacilitation of communication and alignment  Create connections between the manufacturing locations; act as conduit between location-based automation professionals.Provide support for global process owners (Forging, Machining, Finishing)Participate in/lead Best Practice Teams across global manufacturing locations.Collaborate with plant-level professionals (maintenance, production, and engineering) on problem solving activities, cost reduction initiatives and the performance efficiency improvement of manufacturing equipment and processes, guiding them towards leading solutions in automation.

Major Activities and Key Challenges Include: 
Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness by implementing impactful solutions based upon the root causes of deficiencies.Ability to identify, clearly communicate and resolve production and equipment issues as part of a team.
Participate in the development of long-range process and facilities planning, capital expenditure projects and cost savings programs.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineeringMinimum of 10 years of electrical/automation experience in a manufacturing settingProject management experience related to automation/electrical overhaul of manufacturing equipment (aged equipment, modernization, product tracking systems) This role is based in the HWS headquarters in Cleveland but requires the willingness to travel to other HWS locations including Monterrey, Mexico, Barberton, Ohio, and, occasionally, Székesfehérvár, Hungary.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems to include hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, control systems and measurement feedback systemsWorking knowledge of Rockwell Automation and Fanuc control systemsExperience programming industrial robotsKnowledge of lean manufacturing principles
