Job Summary and Qualifications

Plans, coordinates, and directs the functions and activities of the Department of Engineering to ensure continuous efficient and economical operation of the hospital’s equipment, machines, plant, and building, achieving set objectives within budgetary limits and in accordance with all regulatory licensing, codes, and standards. Oversees the Environment of Care to identify, assess, and control environmental/safety hazards at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center and facilities for in‑patients, visitors, and personnel through the implementation of a network-wide safety management program and through the research, development, and update of safety policies and procedures, consultation with administration, department supervisors, and staff, in-service education, investigation of accidents and incidents, and regulatory compliance under the direction of the networks Safety Committee. To ensure the networks compliance with the Environment of Care as defined by JCAHO, CARF, OSHA, EPA, FDA, FDOH, and other regulatory agencies. 

What qualifications you will need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school, Bachelors preferred
  • Ten years experience with mechanical systems
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) or certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred
  • Must have valid Drivers license and be able to meet Hospital Drivers Safety Policy drivers requirement
