Job Description:

The role is responsible for developing and executing supply chain strategies primarily for the delivery of material to the Mars Petcare N.A. sites and third party facilities by partnering with the Strategic Sourcing Managers at Mars Petcare N.A. Secondary responsibilities include the oversight of material supply chains with regards to process adherence and improvement.  The position is accountable for exploring opportunities to recommend and execute supply chain optimization strategies.   The role operates in a pet friendly, open office environment supporting natural pet nutrition.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.

  • 3+ years of relevant business experience in logistics, purchasing and supply chain or related field.

  • Experience in Raw Materials or Packaging materials purchasing and/or sourcing

  • Travel Required - up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.

What will be your key responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities

  • Co creates strategy w/Sourcing and lead Commercial execution 

  • Lead Supplier Performance Management program with suppliers of assigned category.

  • Track and communicate metrics internally and externally (On time, in full, contract adherence, etc..)

  • Provide visibility of forecast to suppliers to ensure proper capacity planning and material availability to execute the short and midterm production plan.

  • Leads Spot market purchases to close short term supply gaps

  • Manage and develop the logistics pipeline for material to Mars Petcare N.A. sites, co-manufacturers, and third-party facilities.

  • Interface between Sourcing Managers –suppliers and supply chain operations

  • Manage operational Quality & Supplier issues. Own the supplier logistics relationship for material, including communication of material requirements and management of supplier performance. 

  • Drive and leverage supplier’s capabilities to reduce Mars TCO in the supply chain.

  • Deliver Growth Innovation- New Product Launches, Supplier Performance, and Speed to Market of assigned category.

  • Total Delivered Cost Reduction

  • Working Capital/Cash Management Strategies

  • Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words and spirit.

Decision Making Authority and Impact

Decisions     

  • Supply chain design and implementation for domestic ingredients

  • Raw Material Risk assessments

  • Inventory Management

  • Raw Material Cost Savings Program

  • Trade/Regulatory Compliance

Recommendations

  • Supply chain design, lead times, INCO terms, supplier/customer communication plans.  Reviewed and approved by Commercial Operations Manager. 

  • Materials in the portfolio area are high risk of supply chain default, action plans to mitigate risk and meet business supply needs. 

  • Inventory positions, strategies to reduce Mars inventories.

  • Cost savings process, projects, resources needed, and implementation plans for materials.

  • Action plans that drive compliance with necessary regulations. 

  • Procure to pay improvements: provide strategic recommendations and improvement opportunities- Finance, Commercial Director

  • Recipe, specification or material process improvements

  • Supply pipeline improvements that maximize cash and efficiency

  • Procure to pay improvements: provide strategic recommendations and improvement opportunities- Finance, Commercial Director
