Program Analyst

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), Program Support Directorate, Division of Reclamation Support in Washington, DC.
At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Provides expert policy and program analysis in support of senior level management decision- making on major administrative initiatives, policies and strategies affecting the Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Program.
2. Researches and disseminates information regarding pertinent legislative history, current and prior Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) regulations, and applicable administrative functions, policies, and processes of other related regulatory agencies.
3. Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates special studies, surveys, reviews or projects to analyze and evaluate program field operations, data, statistics and other programmatic information.
4. Analyzes Administration initiatives and other Federal, state, and tribe programs to identify which activities simultaneously strengthen the mission of OSMRE and then works to build partnerships with relevant supporting agencies.
5. Provides technical and programmatic support working with Abandoned Mine Lands Inventory System (AMLIS) and other database systems (e.g., Abandoned Mine Inventory).
OSMRE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Drivers License Requirement: You may be required to operate a motor vehicle while traveling; therefore you must possess a valid state driver's license.
Physical Requirements/Medical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, with infrequent periods of walking and bending. The employee may be required to drive a government vehicle to local offices and travel by commercial transportation to attend meetings. Employee may also be required to inspect work sites and
facilities.
Work Environment: For work conducted in the office environment, the risks include those typically found in an office environment. Normal safety precautions typical of such places should be observed (e.g., use of
safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls,). The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Occasionally may need to visit field sites and work under field conditions. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
