Job Summary
The John M. Long School of Music at Troy University is seeking an accomplished teacher educator who has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and professional and university service.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate music education courses; overseeing the placement and supervision of student teachers (instrumental and choral); maintaining an active national and international creative research profile, consistent with expectation of tenure and promotion; participating in shared governance through service to the School, College, and University; contributing to undergraduate and graduate recruiting to music education degrees. Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the need of the School of Music. The candidate will work with the College of Education, help coordinate clinical experiences in public schools, and mentor students.
The start date for the position is August 1, 2024. This search will remain open for applications until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Doctorate degree (ABD or degree in progress with substantial professional experience will be
considered).
2. Three years of experience teaching in K-12 public schools.
3. Two years of experience teaching music education in college setting.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate music courses in music education and
supervision of student teaching.
2. Evidence of an established record of publication and research productivity.
3. Experience with community outreach and recruitment.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with
respect, empathy, and cultural humility.
5. Engage in scholarly/creative activities leading to national visibility and contributing to a
university vision of internationalization and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
