POSITION SUMMARY:

The Installation Specialist will be the subject matter expert on installation of 3rd Eye solutions and training of the same. The Specialist will train and guide installation of 3rd Eye products including onboard computers, external cameras, monitors, radar systems, and vehicle cabling at customer sites.  The installation specialist will create training documents and guides for current and future product lines in accordance with engineering specs and Product Management guidelines. This position will troubleshoot equipment remotely and in person, provide general and technical information, and train field service personnel.  This position will provide reporting on installation accuracy, gap closures and any needed process changes to improve installation accuracy and efficiency. This position will field after-hours phone calls and emails from field installers to provide troubleshooting and best practice guidance, as well as assist the QC team with quality control review. This position visits customer sites in the waste and recycling industry according to a provided schedule and route, through regular travel, which could be up to 50%. This position will provide training to dealers, OEMs and/or internal/external team members on the installation process as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Provides technical support and training for the Installers of 3rd Eye products at customer sites with accuracy.
  • Assist with developing and documenting the installation process and quality audit to ensure accurate installation of 3rd Eye products.
  • Provides onsite training of new technicians.
  • May visually inspect products at various stages of production process to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Provide customers end user instructions for products installed.
  • Completes periodic reports. Includes evaluating data collecting and writing summaries to validate or show deviations from quality standards. Present pertinent information from field start-ups in writing or orally.
  • Assisting customers with installations, training, troubleshooting, etc. Involves lifting and carrying parts weighing up to 40 pounds. 
  • Requires willingness and ability to travel frequently, and occasionally on short notice, using a valid company credit card. 
  • Attendance at work, including presence at work during scheduled working hours or other schedules as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Will be representative of our end consumers.  A professional image must be always maintained whether driving, at events, or with dealers.
  • Attends required training sessions, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Work with Engineering as needed on research and development of new equipment.
  • Up to 25% travel is required for this position.
  • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree, Technical School, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3-5 years of specific 3rd Eye installation experience required.
  • 5 years plus combined experience in general automotive, commercial electronics, and waste recycle industry vehicle knowledge.
  • 12 Volt automotive knowledge with minimum of 2 years prior experience.
  • Basic electronics testing knowledge including use of voltmeter, power probe, and test lights.
  • General knowledge of automotive equipment such as commercial trucks, waste and recycling collection vehicles, and light-duty passenger vehicles with minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Must be very self-motivating, proactive, and have a self-starter personality with a “can do” attitude looking to be a team player.  Must also be able to work independently while following direction from a remote management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of company provided service van including all associated tools and product inventory.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with customers via phone and in person.
  • Ability to operate company provided smartphone and Android tablet technologies for reporting and documentation along with basic computer skills.
  • Quickly become a subject matter expert on all company product lines, kits, and accessories.
  • Must be detail oriented with a thorough approach to note taking and documentation.
  • Must have a driver’s license and be insurable and bondable.

Requirements:

Education:  Associate degree, Technical School, or equivalent work experience required.  Requires a High School diploma or GED. 

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, and lists; ability to operate personal computer, smartphone, and tablet-based technologies. Knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience. 

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate near moving vehicles and machinery approximately 100% of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 80%, repetitive lifting of equipment during installation approximately 40% of the time, involves repetitive overhead work approximately 20% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 20% of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms and feet for continuous movement in and out of vehicles; use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment while working on vehicle.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: There is exposure to field environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
