Job Description Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose:
Oversees the safe, efficient and economic operation of the Intermodal Terminal through the effective supervision of railroad and contracted personnel.Principal Duties:
- Directs all contractor employees to ensure they operate at standards and goals established by Norfolk Southern Management.
- Oversees ramp operations, processes and verifies drayage bills, and directs Transportation officers as to switching requirements and assists various Customer Service groups.
- Maintains contact with the facility when on duty and not on property to ensure proper and uninterrupted operation.
- Assists and acts for manager as directed in the operation of the Intermodal terminal and keeps the manager informed regularly of any problems relating to terminal operation status.
- Supervises work and training of new personnel in loading/unloading operation and in proper office clerical procedures.
- Oversees contractor employees operating vehicles/equipment on property, protects against theft and conducts investigations of all accidents and personal injuries in the absence of manager.
- Oversees the proper handling of shipments covered by United States Customs Regulations and for handling hazardous materials in accordance with Federal Regulations.
