Job Summary
The Senior Director of Undergraduate Educator Preparation is an administrative role that supports the Associate Dean in all areas of operation for the department. The Senior Director has direct oversight of academic programs and administrative faculty, workload planning, and faculty workloads. The Senior Director ensures that smooth faculty (full-time and adjunct) hiring, onboarding, credentialing, training, and regular teaching observations are instituted according to agreed-upon college, university, and department deadlines. Specifically, the Senior Director supports curricular content leading to licensure and subsequent endorsements in the program in collaboration with the Licensure Officer and the Associate Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Accreditation. Additionally, the Senior Director supports the planning and coordination of the Industry Advisory Council, Student Success Collaborative (SSC), incubation of new projects, and provides support to the Office of Teacher Development and Office of Field Experience.
As a senior member of the leadership team for the department, the Senior Director serves as a liaison with other departments across the university, particularly the Registrar's Office, Academic Advising/Student Success Coaching, Office of Field Experience, Career Bridge, and Student Affairs, serving as a problem solver and decision-maker on behalf of the department. Coordination with the UGC Curriculum and Instruction Committee, Learning Design Department, and Provost's Office in the development of new programming and associated coursework, as well as the revision of existing coursework, is an integral part of this role. Leading and supporting program accreditation efforts and the embedded programmatic assessment strategy as they pertain to maintaining and seeking accreditation is the responsibility of the Senior Director as well.
The Senior Director supports the annual reporting process, working closely with the Associate Dean, departmental faculty, and staff to analyze annual data and create actionable goals for the department. As part of the department's leadership team, the Senior Director takes responsibility for ensuring action plan goals and activities are executed. The Senior Director helps guide key decision-making for the department, with students at the center of all decisions made. Additionally, the Senior Director supports the Associate Dean in collaboration with external partners, especially school districts, as the unit works to ensure high-quality teacher preparation in high-need communities. Lastly, the Senior Director represents the department at college/university-sponsored events such as Major Exploration Days, Admit Days, Career Fairs, etc.

- Oversight of Academic Programming in Undergraduate Educator Preparation: Supervise the Chairs for ECE/ELE/SEC/EAL/BIL programming, Academic Director of ECE Competency-Based, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging coordinator. Ensures that there is continuity across coursework, that curriculum is exceptional in quality and that faculty maintain fair, equitable and high expectations of students in the program. Works with key faculty and staff to ensure that regulatory, accreditation, and other pertinent learning standards are implemented within the curriculum and that required assessments are completed and that corresponding assessment data is used to provide continuous improvement to the curriculum.
- Administrative program oversight: Provide leadership (program and course levels- program health & portfolio); ensure ongoing communication and alignment between Undergraduate College (UGC) administration and faculty; engage in administrative planning as needed (e.g., supporting scheduling and staffing across the unit, action planning and execution, providing approvals for advising and the registrar's offices, making budget recommendations, providing input on marketing materials and enrollment strategies, etc.); oversee the development and revision of initial licensure and subsequent endorsement programming. Credential and onboard new faculty teaching across majors and concentrations. Incubate new curricular ideas, supporting their development and launch.
- Ensure student success, positive outcomes, and excellent student experience: Supervise the implementation of assessment strategy as it pertains to the curriculum; use data-informed practices to drive instructional and curricular decision-making (including oversight of the Student Success Collaborative); provide support and oversight to the student support planning process; make final decisions in the resolution of student and faculty issues; serve as decision-maker for the unit in regard to students and curriculum with other units in the college/university (e.g., registrar and academic advising/success coaches). Oversee the annual reporting process, coordinating with key faculty and staff across the department to create reports and goals.
- Support the Teacher Development and Office of Field Experience by ensuring effective communication between academic departments, licensure, and program coordinators for students in field experiences.
- Student Engagement and UGC Ed Prep Events; support and facilitate on-site and virtual events to increase student engagement, orientations, connections, and workshops.
- Other duties as assigned
- Master's Degree in Education is required, Doctorate preferred.
- Endorsement and/or experience working in ECE/ELE/Middle Grades/Secondary Education preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Seven (7+) plus years professional experience in higher education and/or PK-12 serving in a leadership capacity, particularly in settings working with diverse populations.
- Five (5+) plus years Project Management experience including serving as the lead on complex initiatives.
- Three (3+) plus years cultivating and developing external partnerships with demonstrated successful outcomes.
- Three (3+) plus years advanced proficiency in the utilization of technology and data systems for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Three (3+) plus years advanced conflict management and negotiation skills across all populations-students, faculty, field supervisors, and partners.
- Communication: Drives free flow of timely and accurate information and communication throughout the organization effectively communicates and relates to a broad range of people internally and externally.
