Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Field Representative to join our Undergraduate Admissions team at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. As a Field Representative, you will play a critical role in recruiting undergraduate students from Texas and providing exceptional support to prospective students, parents, and school counselors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to undergraduate students, managing assigned territories and contributing to yield efforts.
  • Advise and inform prospective students, parents, and school counselors about SIU Carbondale, highlighting our academic programs, campus resources, and community opportunities.
  • Develop working relationships with counselors, advisors, and key stakeholders during scheduled visits to high schools and community colleges, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Build relationships with community-based organizations in the territory to establish a recruitment pipeline and provide expertise on college selection processes and financial aid scholarships.
  • Systematically follow up with students within an individual territory through email, phone, mail, and social media.
  • Access and retrieve student data from various systems, including Banner, Slate, Degree Works, and Navigate, to use during appointments, phone calls, or other inquiries.
  • Record school visits and college fairs into the Undergraduate Admissions CRM and calendar system.
  • Assist students in understanding admission requirements, registration processes, and degree progress.
  • Develop a knowledge base of all facets of the university, including degree requirements, prerequisites, and University Core Curriculum requirements.
  • Provide financial planning support for admitted students and assist with registration and record interactions in Slate.
  • Coordinate with advisors regarding scheduling questions and clarification.
  • Teach students how to use Banner Self-Registration and Degree Works as a degree audit tool.
  • Participate in special projects and ongoing professional training throughout the year.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience in higher education, community-based organization, sales, customer service, or a closely related professional setting.
  • Ability to travel regularly and load and transport admissions material, displays, and other recruiting equipment.
  • Evening and weekend hours required.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a valid driver's license.
