Serves the Compliance Executive Committee in execution of its chartered purpose of providing the Executive Leadership general oversight of the organization's compliance processes and procedures, and monitors its performance with respect to the legal and regulatory requirements of its healthcare business operations.
Develops, initiates, maintains and revises policies and procedures to safeguard the organization from illegal, unethical and/or improper conduct and compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Develops, coordinates, and oversees multifaceted educational and training programs to ensure that management, employees, staff physicians, and, where appropriate, contractors, are knowledgeable of and comply with applicable healthcare laws.
Ensures that changes in laws and regulations that might affect the organization's policies and procedures are communicated to the organization.
Provides advice to and serves as a resource for hospital staff regarding changes in and interpretation of regulations and other actions by regulatory agencies, Medicare, Medicaid, Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Civil Rights (OCR), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Department of Economic Security (DES) and other regulatory agencies.
Performs and oversees investigations to ensure that all suspected violations of the compliance program are properly investigated and risks are mitigated. Helps coordinate disciplinary measures for compliance-related violations.
