The Westbrook, Maine location has an opening for a Manager, Gross Margin Improvement within our Infectious Disease â Lateral Flow business. This role manages the development and implementation process of the siteâs products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of gross margin improvement projects.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Operational leader with experience in product cost, operational excellence, and program leadership to prioritize and drive implementation of GMI projects in the US manufacturing facilities.  

  • Develop alternatives to major business problems.â¯â¯Assist management in selecting the specific action plans that will best meet the identified long-term business issues. Anticipate long-term future problems, resolve current issues, learn and adjust based on prior results and prior project leadership experience. 

  • Estimates project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort. 

  • Prepares project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project. 

  • Assure that projects will effectively integrate with existing programs and strategies so that long and short term business goals are attained. Recognize the broader implications of actions and proposals on the final project outcome, related systems and activities, and general business strategy. 

  • Prepare and present project progress reports to keep management and team informed. Identify problems, their resolution, trends, and their impact on project success; propose recommendations for management action. 

  • Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans. 

  • Assures project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with SQA to develop and execute project quality plans. 

  • Communicates project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings. 

  • Resolves project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate. 

  • Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques. 

  • Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external technological activities to trends. 

  • Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units. 

  • Participates in the development of other technical contributors by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance. 

  • May lead a project team. Acts as a mentor to less-experienced staff and may provide work direction or supervise other technical employees. 

  • Provides technical leadership to business units. 

  • Exercises judgment independently. 

  • Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. 

  • Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones. Establishes priorities of individual or project assignments. Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion. 

  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. 

 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOUâLL BRING

  • Bachelorâs degree in science or engineering plus on the job experience in project management

  • 7-9 years of related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area. 

 

PREFERRED

  • Masterâs degree in science, Engineering or another technical field.  

  • Project Management Certification (PMP)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of a particular technological field.  

  • Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/ relationships.  

  • Is recognized as an expert in work group and across functions.  

  • Will perform this job in a quality system environment.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 â $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
