Director, Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research

The Role:
Located at Moderna's Headquarters in Cambridge, MA, we are seeking an experienced HEOR professional to lead global HEOR activities for Modernas vaccine portfolio. This role will play a critical part in shaping the development strategies for several vaccines in our pipeline, including Norovirus, Cytomegalovirus, and Epstein-Barr virus.
This role will lead the development and execution of strategies for evidence generation, data analysis, and dissemination to demonstrate the value of Modernas vaccine pipeline. You will collaborate with cross-functional teamsacross scientific, clinical, and commercial groupsto develop coherent plans that shape development strategies and demonstrate the population-wide impact of these vaccines.
As a key member of the global HEOR team, you will play a critical role in engaging thought leaders, payers, and other stakeholders to ensure access to these vaccines. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence vaccine development pathways and contribute to innovative approaches that maximize the health impact of Moderna's vaccines across the healthcare ecosystem.
Heres What Youll Do:
Contribute to the design, implementation and management of HEOR studies from concept through publication. HEOR studies may include retrospective database analysis, economic models, prospective research studies, patient-reported outcomes, and payer-focused tools.
Lead the design of health economic models that can be used to expain the value of Moderna vaccines to various stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional product teams at every stage of development through launch. Partner with the broader vaccines commercial team in presentations to senior internal stakeholders, including our executive committee, and external stakeholders.
Work closely with other functions including research and development strategy, epidemiology, regulatory, policy, and medical affairs on the development on programs that support broad access and value.
Deliver best-practice project management oversight for all research and study-related activities.
Underestand the payer landscape and develop networks to enage with thought leaders who can provide input to guide Moderna programs.
Represent Moderna at meetings where HEOR discussions and data are required.
Be a key player in building HEOR capabilities within Modernas vaccines commercial organization, in partnership with newly formed teams that will blaze trails in new markets and grow Moderna at an accelerated pace.
Comply with corporate policies and procedures as well as all applicable healthcare laws and regulations.
Heres What Youll Need:
Minimum of a Masters degree in Public Health, Health Services Research, Economics, Epidemiology, Health Policy, or a related discipline.
5+ years of progressive excellence in HEOR, with a successful track record of building and executing high-value-add research agendas.
Cross-functional leadership experience, with proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders across medical affairs, field teams, marketing, pricing, contracting, government payers, and other key areas to align scientific, clinical, and commercial objectives.
Extensive experience with outcomes-based strategies and tactics, including health economics, patient-reported outcomes, retrospective and prospective data analyses, epidemiology, and health services research, to meet scientific and commercial goals.
Strategic leadership in HEOR that has driven measurable business outcomes, including value communication for payers and health authorities to support market access, defend against pricing pressures, and differentiate brands in competitive markets.
Strong understanding of vaccine-specific drug development and regulatory pathways, payer reimbursement models, and health policy across multiple regions, with the ability to adapt strategies to different global markets.
Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table
Doctorate degree in a related discipline.
Experience working with vaccines or infectious diseases and familiarity with the unique challenges in these fields.
Experience interacting with National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) and other public health authorities.
Experience with Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) or similar bodies to demonstrate and communicate value for pricing and reimbursement.
Proven expertise using real-world evidence and comparative effectiveness to inform health policy decisions.
High degree of digital fluency, with experience in digital health technologies, real-world data platforms, and predictive analytics.
