Description
ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) and the Division of Teacher Preparation invite applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Early Childhood/Special Education. The position includes teaching in a variety of environments, which may include classroom, community/professional experiences, or distance/online, creating course content, providing feedback on student work/assignments, managing course materials in Canvas (learning management system), establishing supportive relationships with students, and service to the college. The Division of Teacher Preparation welcomes applications from candidates who align with ASU’s charter and are committed to inclusive excellence and student success.  The successful candidate will also advance ASU’s Design Aspirations through teaching and service.

Essential Duties: Delivering instruction, in a variety of environments, which may include classroom, community/professional experiences, or distance/online, providing timely and actionable feedback on student assignments, managing course materials in Canvas (learning management system for the college), and utilizing technology tools to support student engagement (e.g. Zoom, Slack,Yellowdig, and GoReact).

Establishing and maintaining warm and responsive relationships with students through facilitating course experiences and when engaging with students via office hours, emails, and meetings.
Collaborating with colleagues and other professionals to ensure effective instruction for students throughout their program.
Developing course curricula and content and curating course materials aligned with program-level outcomes.
Providing service to the program, division, college, and/or university through a variety of mechanisms, such as acting as a course coordinator in charge of collaborating with full-time and part-time faculty, maintaining, re-developing, and designing course materials, developing new courses, and content, related to educational foundations workforce needs, serving on a college or university committee, or other related service activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Child Development, Special Education, Family Studies, Social Work, Psychology or closely related field
Evidence of 5 years of teaching or working directly with families, schools or organizations that provide special education/early intervention services to children birth to age 8, 3rd grade
Desired Qualifications:

Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Child Development, Special Education, Family Studies, Social Work, Psychology or closely related field
Evidence of learner-centered and relationship-centered teaching (in any learning context)
2 years of teaching early childhood, child development, family studies, or closely related content at community college, university-level post-secondary, or other adult education settings
Evidence of experience with special education/early intervention services for children birth to age 5, not yet in kindergarten (i.e. early intervention (birth to three), home visits, special education for children aged 1 to 5, not yet in kindergarten, early care and education inclusion specialist)
Involvement in professional organizations (e.g. DEC, NAEYC) dedicated to early childhood development and/or special education
