Position is in the Family Therapy program and will be filled as Psychologist, Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, or Senior Social Worker.

This Staff Psychologist will be assigned to a Behavioral Health program within the Behavioral Health Service. The incumbent's assignment at this level will evaluate, diagnose, and treat the full range of psychiatric disorders using a variety of treatment modalities, including but not limited to individual, family, group psychotherapies, use of Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care. Performs psychological evaluations for Veterans with a range of psychiatric diagnoses and varying levels of cognitive functioning.
Conducts psychological, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments as needed.
Provides psychoeducation to Veterans, family members, and/or caregivers.
Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions including individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
Provides consultation to professional staff within the El Paso VAHCS and to community providers concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for Veterans seen in the Behavioral Health Clinic.
Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of Veterans, including prompt completion of clinical reminders, case notes and psychological reports.
Functions independently as a member of the El Paso VAHCS Medical Staff with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and clinical documentation.
Provides crisis-intervention support as needed for urgent mental health walk-ins..
Assists the program director or coordinator in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers.
Assists the program director or coordinator in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data- driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program.
Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs to effectively coordinate services.

: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66

Experience in working with interdisciplinary teams
Experience working with Veterans/Family
Experience in Mental Health Diagnosis
Experience in Evidenced Based Treatment (EBT) with couples and families
Physical Requirements:
The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
