Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative I provides clerical assists with the day-to-day operations of the front desk including billing support, scheduling, patient communication and filing.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for providing support within a medical environment performing functions such as scheduling, billing for service, and processes required patient informational forms.
  • Prepares charts for medical records and generates daily reports.
  • Assists patients with questions and provides required information.
  • Processes insurance and medication refill requests.
  • Assists with medical records requests.
  • Answers multi-line phone and accepts payments.
  • Adheres to and complies with HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.

Other Duties:
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications
  • This position requires a high school diploma and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Relevant, full-time experience providing data entry, typing, filing or customer service.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a health care setting.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner software.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned, and timely decisions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures consistently.
