City of Chesapeake CIBH is offering a wonderful opportunity to those applicants who enjoy helping and supporting adult individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and/or developmental or sensory impairments. This is a paraprofessional position in which duties include: responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of program members, by assisting them in self-care, communication, mobility, personal living skills. Direct Support Technicians are also responsible for connecting and integrating program members within the community by accessing different community resources.

An individual within the position of Direct Support Technician must be able to provide direct supervision to the individuals that attend the COPs program by ensuring the health and safety of program members.

  • Access community resources, such as community centers, volunteer opportunities, parks, malls, museums, etc.
  • Provide personal self-care, as well as meal preparation and assistance
  • Completing progress/case notes and daily activity sheet.
  • Serve as backup to our 24-hour residential facility when needed.
