Role Description:

Financial management responsibility and member of management teams for $6.4M+ job shop facility with 24 employees, $1.0M+ Graphic Arts SGA facility with 11 employees, $3.0M+ R&D SGA facility with 19 employees, $5.2M+ Operations Engineering SGA facility with 24 employees.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial/management accounting and reporting, with an emphasis on accurate, timely information every month.
  • Support plant management with financial tools, job cost information, profitability analysis, and hours worked supporting jobs / capital projects
  • Development and monitoring of cost management/cost reduction strategies with plant management
  • Variance analyses; including identification of business and cost trends, and recommendations for cost control, operational changes, etc.
  • Team leader for annual capital and operating budget preparation/submission for (1) profit center and (3) SGA centers along with appropriate variance analyses and other supporting details as may be required
  • Coordinate the posting of job related expenses and hours for all cost centers
  • Project / job profitability analysis and review
  • Journal entries, purchase requisitions, invoice receipt / goods receipt analysis
  • Inventory control management including coordination of physical and cycle counts, resolution of problem areas and maintenance of procedures
  • Support the capital asset request process including submission of request, expenditure tracking, development of return on investment, and completing asset creation request
  • Establish and maintain effective internal accounting controls over all plant assets, customer pricing, and SAP process within the Technical Center facility in accordance with corporate standards
  • Fixed asset, spare parts, and job cost accounting
  • Close coordination with various functions within the facility, other Ardagh locations, and customers for job close out and financial reviews
  • Training of Best Practice processes for SAP, job costing, and hours reporting
  • Assist Tax with all requests related to tax mitigation, including but not limited to sale tax exemption, MA10000, R&D project reporting, etc.
  • Manage and develop Plant Accountant
  • Special assignments and/or projects as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Job based costing background a plus
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and ERP applications, SAP a major plus
  • Kronos use and management a plus
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, hands-on, results oriented management style
  • Strong service orientation and ability to work as a team with local management.
  • Thorough, highly organized and efficient work habits
  • Ability to proactively address and solve problems
  • Ability to challenge the status-quo while effectively working in multiple team-based environments
  • Balance detail orientation with “big picture” understanding of the business
  • Ability to travel as needed to plant/corporate locations.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • MBA, CPA or CMA preferred, not required, with minimum 10 years overall experience
  • Minimum 3 years successful experience in high volume job shop manufacturing with a solid cost accounting background.
