JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the planning and execution of hydro modernization outages and related civil projects associated with a series of hydro power generating plants. This role will primarily support projects in the Central Georgia Hydro group located in Central Georgia and would include Wallace Dam, Sinclair Dam, and Lloyd Shoals Dam as the primary areas of responsibility. This position is responsible for providing technical support, managing scope and scope changes, monitoring budgets, and supporting a local TSS project organization. The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills to work with plant personnel, Southern Company Services (SCS), vendors, and a wide range of contractors to ensure successful completion of assigned projects.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network and support TSS, contractors, equipment SME's, plant personnel, and other internal organizations to address common issues and share best practices.
  • Coordinate with local and state agencies such as DNR and DOT as needed.

  • Develop 10-year capital budgets in line with the current modernization plan. Provide accurate and timely budget projections as required.

  • Organize and manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Strong commitment to safe work practices.

  • Periodic overnight travel.

  • Display interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to handle conflict and work effectively within a diverse team.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • B.S. in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintenance/operations of power plants or other similar heavy industrial facilities.

  • Experience in planning and budgeting required.

  • Plant outage coordination experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience working with TSS construction organization preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Be flexible to work across position boundaries and willingly accept multiple roles as required to support Hydro Modernization Program needs.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required.

  • Knowledge and experience with personal computers and the ability to learn numerous software applications quickly.

  • Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative are crucial for this position.

  • Ability to interface with vendors and contractors while representing the best interests of Southern Company.

  • Strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
